Deborah is one of Australia’s leading screen editors.
During the late 90’s/early 2000’s she worked as both an assistant editor and post production supervisor on some of the country’s most prolific television productions including MARKING TIME, R.A.N and the sci fi cult classic FARSCAPE to which she became an Associate Producer in its final season. Hundreds of hours spent in cutting rooms culminated in her editing her first series for legendary producer John Edwards, THE SURGEON in 2005.
Since then she has built a solid swag of credits editing some of Australia’s most successful dramas including UNDERBELLY, PUBERTY BLUES, THE CODE, PETER ALLEN: NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR and MYSTERY ROAD.
Deborah has worked alongside some of the country’s most respected directors including Wayne Blair, Glendyn Ivin, Rachel Perkins, Leah Purcell, Shawn Seet, Kriv Stenders, Cherie Nowlan and Jeffrey Walker.
She has been nominated for 8 Australian Screen Editors (ASE) Awards, winning for UNDERBELLY: A TALE OF TWO CITIES and five AACTA awards, winning twice for THE CODE and MYSTERY ROAD. In 2013 the ASE recognised her body of work and commitment to building the profile of the local editing community by way of accreditation, the guild’s highest honour. In 2015 she was included on The IF List, which recognises the industry’s most prolific practitioners.
Deborah’s recent credits include the soon to be released UPRIGHT starring Tim Minchin, LAMBS OF GOD which was recently selected for Official Competition at Series Mania and TOTAL CONTROL (aka BLACK B*TCH) which was the first Australian television series to premiere at Toronto Film Festival.
